Understanding Integrative Pain Approach

Living with chronic pain can feel confusing, exhausting, and isolating especially when answers feel incomplete or solutions only go so far.

As an Integrative Pain Practitioner, I support people in understanding and navigating chronic pain through a whole-person approach that bridges science, mind-body awareness, and practical daily tools.

My work combines evidence-informed pain education with integrative strategies that support the nervous system, reduce pain sensitivity, and improve overall quality of life. Together, we explore how factors like stress, movement, sleep, emotions, and lifestyle can influence the way pain is experienced and what can be done to shift it.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I help you build skills to better regulate your body’s response to pain, reconnect with your sense of safety and trust in your body, and create sustainable ways of living well again.

My approach is grounded, compassionate, and collaborative. You are not “broken” but your nervous system is doing its best to protect you, and there are ways to gently guide it toward balance.

Whether you’re dealing with long-term pain, flare-ups, or uncertainty about next steps, I’m here to help you move toward more ease, resilience, and possibility in your daily life.

Conditions Treated at Our Halifax Integrative Pain Clinic

I work with individuals living with a wide range of chronic and persistent pain experiences. This includes conditions such as back, neck, and joint pain; arthritis-related discomfort; fibromyalgia; and ongoing pain following injury or surgery.

I also support people experiencing pain that is influenced by the nervous system, including widespread sensitivity, tension patterns, and pain that becomes amplified by stress, fatigue, or emotional strain.

Many of the people I work with have already seen multiple providers and are looking for additional support in understanding their pain, improving daily function, and finding sustainable ways to feel better.

My approach is especially helpful when pain feels complex, fluctuating, or not fully explained by imaging or structural findings alone. Together, we focus on building practical tools, improving nervous system regulation, and supporting your body in returning to a greater sense of ease and resilience.

You do not need a specific diagnosis to begin working with me. If pain is affecting your quality of life, we can start there.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first session is designed to give us a clear, compassionate understanding of your pain experience and what matters most to you.

We’ll begin with a conversation about your history, your current symptoms, and how pain is affecting your daily life. This includes not only physical sensations, but also sleep, stress levels, mood, activity patterns, and anything else that feels relevant to your experience.

1.

There is no pressure to “have the perfect answers.” Many people come in feeling unsure or overwhelmed, part of my role is to help guide the conversation in a way that feels supportive and manageable.

2.

Together, we’ll start to identify possible patterns that may be influencing your pain, including nervous system sensitivity, movement habits, stress responses, and other contributing factors. I may also offer initial education about how chronic pain works, if helpful.

3.

By the end of your first visit, you can expect to leave with:

  • A clearer understanding of your pain experience

  • Initial insights into possible contributing factors

  • A few practical, personalized strategies you can begin using right away

  • A sense of direction for next steps

Most importantly, this is a collaborative process.
We move at a pace that feels safe for you, and your experience is always central to the work we do together.
